Drawing on experience and skills developed on projects in Japan, KEI can provide services for all types of tunnel projects. These include hard rock tunnels, shield tunnels, cut and cover tunnels, and immersed tube tunnels.
The firm can also provide expertise in the design of underground space for railways. International project experience includes work in Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Between Thailand’s Lampang and Doi Saket areas lies a mountainous region in which two tunnels were constructed using the New Austrian tunnelling method. The 900-meter tunnel in Malaysia’s Genting-Sampa connection was improved by the firm with an upgrade of its facilities.
Two hundred kilometres north of Manila is the mountainous Dalton Pass, where KEI planned a tunnel to improve the highway alignment, and to protect the road and its users from landslide. KEI has also designed and supervised construction of numerous underpasses in Manila, and underground works for the city’s LRT 2 rail project.
